I’ve been searching and searching and searching On Demand for “My Sister’s Keeper” and “Four Christmases” and got NOTHING! I finally broke down and drove to Blockbuster and it turns out that they aren’t even on DVD yet- at least not until the end of the month! These two movies can’t come out soon enough. I’m DYING to see them…

Folks, I have an art show tonight at Midnight Sun starting at 5pm.

I will be featuring my “Water Series” and a few of my beach inspired paintings.

If you’re in the Anchorage area, COME ON OUT!!!! I will be there later this evening!

P.S. There will be live music, organic coffee, and homemade soups and breads!

I need to get back into reading every night. Hopefully, your weekly book posts will inspire me to pick it back up. I have about 8 books- all half read- patiently sitting on my nightstand. Shame. Shame. Shame.

I haven’t felt the baby move for DAYS! -Almost to the point of going into the doc to check things out.

While I was hanging my art show yesterday the old school Sublime record came on over their system and the baby started to kick!

Such a relief!

Today, I put on Sugarland’s record in the record player and he’s doing the same thing. I might have a little musician on my hands!

(P.S. I secretly like (some) Sublime, shhhh)

I’m finding myself saying, “No Ma’am” to my cat more and more everyday. (saying “No Ma’am shows that I mean business!)

She keeps tackling my tabletop scarecrow like some sort of rabid rat. What is her deal?

I can’t wait until Christmas when she climbs up my Christmas tree and bats off all of the ornaments! -Then I will be saying “No Ma’am” like it’s going out of style.

Yes, that is snow/ice beginning to cover the river. Once the snow really sets in the entire river will be covered, but you will still be able to hear the water rushing underneath the ice. It’s pretty cool, if I do say so myself.

Krysta’s “Giant Food” Art Project

The theme of Krysta’s project was “giant food.” It had to be 3 dimensional and handmade. So, she decided to make a banana split! The judging will take place this Saturday during the craft show at her school.

Materials Used:

Cotton
Cotton Balls (for the whip cream)
Beads (for the sprinkles)
Felt (brown, white, yellow, and red)
Glue
Glitter (for the syrup)
Aluminum Foil (for the spoon)
Birthday tissue

Candy Cane Cookies

These would be wonderful holiday desserts! They look scrumptious and I can’t wait to make them. They have hardly any ingredients and the process to make them doesn’t even look too intense…but people will love them for the creativity, yummy-ness, and holiday cheer!

Ingredients

1 box sugar cookie mix

1/2 stick butter, melted

1 egg

1/3 cup softened cream cheese

1/2 cup all-purpose flour, plus additional for surface

Red food coloring

1 1/2 teaspoons peppermint extract

Directions

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.

In a bowl, combine sugar cookie mix, melted butter, egg, cream cheese, and flour; mix together to form dough. Separate dough into 2 equal portions and place in 2 different bowls. Add red food coloring gradually to 1 bowl of dough, kneading together until desired shade of red is created. To second bowl of uncolored dough, add peppermint extract and knead together. On a floured work surface, shape each dough into balls and then roll each ball into 1/4-inch-wide ropes, each about 6 inches long. For each cookie, carefully twist some of the red and white ropes of dough together and shape into a candy cane. Spread candy canes out on cookie sheets and bake on the top shelf of the oven for about 10 to 12 minutes. Transfer to a rack to cool before serving.

My daughter has been BEGGING me for Lelli Kelly shoes. Personally, I think they are so tacky, but she just LOVES them. I’ve always considered myself a conservative person and I wanted her to dress like a little lady, but then I got to thinking… she’s a little girl and she’s only going to be a little girl once. So, if she wants shoes with colorful beads all over them, then I should just go for it!

Every time the commercial comes on TV she sings the jiggle and says, “MOM!! I.HAVE.GOT.TO.HAVE.THOSE.SHOES!!!!!” So, today I made a trip to Nordstrom and purchased a pair for her. I’m going to stick them under our Christmas tree for her to open on Christmas Day. I can’t wait to see her little face light up when she finally gets a pair of Lelli Kelly shoes!

P.S. TWO great things about these shoes is they have an insert that you can take out to give your little one an extra 1/2 inch AND the beads are HAND STITCHED!
